Mt. Fuji Japanese Cuisine

Looking for your next sushi fix? Mt. Fuji Japanese Cuisine has been one of Edmonton’s most highly recommended Japanese restaurants since 1999, though they only recently moved to Griesbach in 2017. So, what is it that makes people keep coming back for more? According to their website, it’s their super-secret sesame sauce!

Mt. Fuji serves a large variety of dishes, such as sushi, sashimi, maki, tempura, bento boxes, and udon. The bento boxes are especially popular as a quick lunch option. A big point of pride for the restaurant is being able to serve dishes quickly and without compromising on the quality of the food. Great Japanese food at an affordable price—what more could you ask for?

Mokha Coffee House

Want to have a unique café experience in Edmonton? Mokha Coffee House is the first Yemeni café in Canada, which recently opened this past spring! Mokha is already beloved by Griesbach residents as a place to hang out and relax in the community. The café is spacious with its airy open concept design, two floors of seating, and an outdoor patio. You’ll find beautiful archways and Arabic scripture used in the interior design, celebrating its Middle Eastern heritage.

Mokha offers all the typical speciality coffee drinks we know and love, like lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, fresh mojitos, and more. But where Mokha stands out from the big-name coffee chains is with their traditional Yemeni and Arabian brews and teas Adani, Mofawar, Qishr, and Sanani. They also have a variety of pastries and desserts, like croissants and cheesecake, as well as traditional Middle Eastern dishes like baklava and honey comb buns.

Mokha Coffee House is the perfect haunt for all the night owls out there, because the cafe stays open until midnight. Be sure to add this new café to your must-visit lists!

OCHA + BOBA

This local boba shop rebranded from Chatime Griesbach to OCHA + BOBA back in 2022, thanks to the community’s tremendous support in shopping local. Their menu contains all your typical bubble tea favourites—milk teas, fresh teas, smoothies, fruit slushes, and plenty of delicious toppings like pearls, jellies, and pudding. They also offer seasonal menu items like sakura in spring or watermelon in summer, as well as desserts like cheesecake.

In addition to delicious drinks, OCHA + BOBA sells branded merch, like reusable drinkware, shirts, and totes, as well as limited time offerings, like keychains, plushes, and more. Next time you take a walk around the neighbourhood, don’t forget to stop in for a little treat at OCHA.

Scoop n Roll Creamery

Scoop n Roll Creamery is Canada’s first rolled ice cream shop, bringing the exciting Thai tradition of “Tim Pad” (fried ice cream) to Edmonton in 2015. Founded by entrepreneur Nader Rafeh, they’ve since expanded to multiple store fronts and seasonal food trucks throughout the city.

Using fresh ingredients consisting of liquid ice cream, your choice of fruits, nuts, and premiums toppings, the ice cream is rolled right in front of you. Along with regular dairy options, there are vegan flavours available, so no one needs to miss out on this tasty treat.

Scoop n Roll is both a visual experience as well as a delicious one. Stop by year-round for this sweet treat—summer may be over, but ice cream is forever.

Ending off our list, let’s raise a glass to pub nights! The Crown & Anchor Pub & Grill in north Edmonton offers a casual dining experience, perfect for pub lovers. Their menu features classics like Fish & Chips, burgers with fries, and Wing Wednesday specials.

Aside from the food, the Crown & Anchor has live music, karaoke, and trivia nights.
