What’s Happening at the Winter Village Warmup?

Whether you’re local to the community or looking for a fun winter outing in a new community, this Family Day event is the place to be. The Winter Village Warmup is all about celebrating our incredible community and Canadian traditions – and we’ve got just that with a ton of winter-season themed activities to enjoy. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

Skating at Maple Leaf Pond

First up, let’s talk skating! The event will held in the area surrounding Maple Leaf Pond, one of the most scenic spots in Griesbach, which is celebrating the inaugural season of its new highly anticipated skating rink – so make sure you grab your skates take a spin on our ice! Whether you’re an experienced skater or just looking to glide along with your little ones, there’s something magical about skating outdoors. Plus, the location itself is perfect for a cozy winter day out, complete with snow-covered hills and surroundings. Reminder: this is a BYOS (bring your own skates) event, so be sure to bring your skating gear with you.

Maple Taffy on Snow

Now, who doesn’t love a little maple deliciousness? The Canadian Maple Shack will be on-site, bringing this classic Canadian treat to life! This celebrated Indigenous tradition, was adopted by French settlers in eastern Canada, specifically around Quebec, where there are thick groves of maple trees. It quickly become a must-have eat during winter carnivals. If you’ve never had this sweet treat before, get ready to fall in love with its unique layers of sugary flavour! The process to create this sticky confection is simple but oh-so-delicious: hot maple syrup is poured over fresh snow, and then it’s rolled up on a stick – it’s pure sticky joy on a chilly day. This little piece of Canadian heritage is the perfect pairing to fun-filled winter day. Make sure to grab a pic with your maple taffy!

Warm Sips to Keep you Cozy

Don’t worry about the cold – we’ve got you covered with complimentary hot coffee and hot chocolate from one of our favorite local cafés – Parama Café. Whether you’re warming up after a skate or just taking a break to enjoy the beautiful winter-wonderland inspired atmosphere, these cozy drinks + treats are a perfect way to recharge and support our amazing local businesses located within the community. *Until supplies last*

DJ and Fairy Skate

There’s good tunes and a magical guest on the list for the Winter Village Warmup, and that’s where the DJ and costume fairy skate come in! DJ Thomas Culture will be spinning fun beats all afternoon, and a special treat that the youngest guests are sure to enjoy – a fairy joining in on the skating fun!

Griesbach Giveaways & Prizes

Everyone loves good swag, right? Toques, stickers, pins, and tote bags will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis – perfect for taking home a little piece of the festival. You’ll definitely want to get your hands on some of these goodies while supplies last.
